IDENTIFICATION/CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS GUIDELINES

 

International Class 7 includes:  Industrial robots, machines, machine tools, hand-held power tools, auto ignition parts, electric generating apparatus, engines for aircraft and boats.

 

International Class 7 does not include:  Portable electric welders, automatic valves in Class 9; hand-operated tools found in Class 8.

 

INDEFINITE TERMINOLOGY

 

Accessories            “and parts therefor” with a particular item

 

Components            “and parts therefor” acceptable with a particular item

 

Cutters             specify kind or type, e.g. machine knives

 

Devices           

 

Drills   specify power-operated drills

 

Drill bits            specify drill bits for power drills

 

Fittings            specify type or kind, i.e. “metal machine fittings”

 

Knives             specify type pr kind, e.g. machine knives

Valves             valves being part of machines are in Class 7

 

While engines for anything but land vehicles are in 7, and engines for land vehicles are in 12,  parts for engines are in 7 regardless of whether they are for land vehicles or not.  Similarly, mufflers for engines are in 7 regardless of whether they are for land vehicles or not.
